College Age Group

Welcome Returning College/Young Professionals Group and New Friends!

Hi, I am Carl Feril and I am back again to teach and facilitate the college classes at Black Hills Bible Camp. We actually have two kinds of participants in the college camp each year. We have those to come for the college camp only, and those who work  the regular camp sessions as counselors or junior counselors. In either capacity I want to thank you for considering being a part of the session.

As you may know, this is a relatively new section of BHBC, one we put together to offer a place for those who may not feel they really fit into the "adult class" group. Our style is informal and the content is parallel to but not identical to the other session of camp.

The 2011 theme is Jesus, The ONE Way and I want to challenge you to be thinking about living life as a disciple, depending on him in every area of life. I believe that Jesus is the answer of all of the truly difficult questions of life. So, it is my plan to try to look at some of these tough areas. What do you do with the conflict when you get the World's Worst Roommate? How do you handle the ego blow and disappoint with some classes that just eat your lunch at college? What are you really going to do in life, not what is your major but what is your purpose? Another real problem can be, How do you handle the ego boost when every thing is clicking along great and you have victory on every hand? I also want us to talk about how we can learn to live in the moment, contentedly, without having to think about what life will be like after we are married, in a job, or have all our stuff together.  Finally, we will end with looking at Jesus being the End of All Things.

I have a mantra I try to live my life by: Be curious, ask questions, listen to answers. Err on the side of risk rather than safety. Love wildly, forgive quickly, and smile through it all. So, SHAZAAM, bring it on!

My plan, at the moment (all my plans are subject to impulsive change), is for us to talk about the following topics:

Sunday: Jesus is the One Way to Resolve Conflict

Monday: Jesus is the One Way to Find Purpose

Tuesday: Jesus is the One Way to Face Disappointment

Wednesday: Jesus is the One Way to Deal with Victory

Thursday: Jesus is the One Way to Find Contentment

Friday: Jesus is the One, the End of All Things.

Keep checking back for more information, as I will update you on the areas of the Scriptures we will be exploring these topics from. There will be good food, good fellowship, and great times of prayer and discussion. We have a number of old timers coming back as well as some new folks to join us.

This year I've already heard from some of you who will be there. Follow me on Twitter: CarlFeril or on Facebook. I want to hear about what you have on your mind as well.
